It is my utmost honour and privilege to have the opportunity for my company, Maharani Jewels, to partner with Ekal Vidyalaya, (www.ekal.org) which is the largest grassroots, non-governmental education movement that operates in the remote villages of India, in creating 'The Unity Bracelet.'
I was always looking for a way to use my skill of being a jeweler in a way that could help make this world a better place. My love of children and my passion for knowledge and education, made Ekal Vidyalaya the perfect NGO to support. Furthermore, Ekal is a completely volunteer-based foundation, which means that all funds raised go directly to support children's education, without a large chunk going into administrative fees.
The lotus in each bracelet is significant. Being raised a Hindu, I grew up worshipping Goddess Saraswati who is the Goddess of knowledge, wisdom, and learning. She is shown seated on a white lotus which is the symbol of supreme knowledge and purity. And having traveled throughout India, I would often marvel at how a beautiful lotus could grow in muddy water. When thinking about Children's education, I realized that irrespective of their circumstances and environment, with access to education, these children had the capacity to blossom and reach the highest of peaks. So please, join hands with me and let's stand united to eradicate illiteracy from India and give these children the opportunity to reach their true potential.
Each bracelet sells for $249, and contains a silver lotus charm containing 0.35 carats of diamonds, and a stretchable onyx bead option, or a sterling silver option. Both bracelets are adjustable to fit most children's and adult wrist sizes. Each bracelet comes in a burlap pouch that was made by local artisans in India.
Your purchase of 1 Unity Bracelet will allow 6 children in rural India to go to school for an entire year. You will literally transform the lives of these children and their entire communities.
